SCENE: Everywhere throughout the inverted tower, from crypt to chapel

Once the clock strikes six in the morning, at the first sign of light, the sound of church bells rings throughout the tower, announcing either a wedding or funeral.

Across every window and similar surface runs the silhouette of GIRL C, like a town crier. As she runs, her voice resounds throughout the Conservatoire.

Extra, extra! Extra, extra! Man down, man down!

Lavi is dead! Brutally murdered! Stabbed right in the back by his trusted companion(s)! And the Troupe had the guts to get offended when Father called them sinners!

But it makes for better drama, so you don't see me complaining!

You'll find him dead as a doornail in the Rose Garden, where all princes lie! But don't get too ahead of yourselves! Go pay your respects while you still can... and go find clues! Because in six hours, the Troupe's on trial! It'll be a mystery dinner show, and the whole school's invited!

Wait, don't go! I'm not done yet! Today's head-scratcher: Is it easier to forgive a someone who's done an awful thing if they have a good reason? Is it harder to forgive them if they don't?

That's a tough one! Don't ask me that!

My answer's this: I'm just a kid! All I want to do is worry about the test I'm not gonna study for! It's way easier to just think the way I'm told!

GIRL C's voice and footsteps fade. GIRL D's silhouette appears in the windows.

But I have an answer. And I remember what Father said, too.

Why won't she rely on me instead of trying to do it all herself?

The silhouette of GIRL D disappears after GIRL C, leaving you alone with a cruel truth: one of you is dead, and another one of you did them in.

( OOC: Investigation will occur in 2 blocks:

❥ Block 1: 1 PM EDT – 3 PM EDT (half of the locations will be available)
❥ Block 2: 10 PM EDT – 12 AM EDT (other half will be available)

How-to:
❥ Comment under each investigation header to look for clues! Case clues have been limited to ensure all core clues are discoverable within the time limits given. As with the usual style, it is still possible to miss non-core evidence.
❥ Each block, up to three characters are welcome to investigate under each header unless indicated otherwise.
❥ As usual, the characters investigating can rotate out depending on player availability; characters investigating can also be different each block.
❥ At the end of block 1, ongoing investigations will be gently wrapped up so other characters can potentially swap in for block 2. If no one else is available for block 2, feel free to continue your investigation.
❥ If you find all the core evidence in a location during a block, the location will be marked with [ALL CORE EVIDENCE FOUND], as usual.
❥ To compensate for the limited investigation timeframe, characters may take grainy, 90's-era photos of the crime scene and develop them in the Darkroom to submit as evidence during trial. Extras can show your character how to develop photos (or develop the photos for them) if your character wouldn't know how.
❥ To compensate for the limited investigation timeframe, all evidence discovered during investigation will automatically appear during trial. )

Good morning, how are we in the Cafe today ... is everyone accounted for and everything in order? No one's stolen all the drinks or disturbed the birds? ]

[Noelle wakes up. Uf, uncomfortable sleep, that was. She stands up, and oh.

That redhead guy is dead as a doornail. Noelle doesn't register disgust or any sign of being distraught over someone being dead.

Her immediate reaction is to look towards the other person who was in the garden with her. Like hell she's going to turn her back. Without saying a word to him, she steps back. She leaves the area, always making sure to keep him within her sight, until she's gone.

[ Fandaniel is waking up from the spot on the floor where he must have collapsed when everyone blacked out. Weird. He doesn't sleep, though? At least, he doesn't have to, and yet... Okay, okay, he's getting up and looking around the chapel. ]

[One of her fellow library patrons is a mod, and the other is in capitalism currently, so just for posterity, Cantarella is here to rouse them, sigh, and gather herself up before making the rather long ascent, if they have anything notable to say regarding the announcement.

That certainly is a head-scratcher.

If it were to be investigated, presumably it would have a toplevel, but she'll make sure that library itself is as usual before departing, and that all nooks and crannies are as open or closed as they were left the night before.]

Then, he so happens to see Lavi's dead body lying there.

He doesn't even spare Noelle a glance.

Instead, well, he just ends up leaving - perhaps to investigate somewhere else, or to gain his bearings. Maybe he's just in too much of a state of disbelief...

[He wakes up with a start, which is really quite a strange sensation for P, but all emotion is replaced by a lingering sort of dread when he hears the news of... murder.

So it really did happen.

He's up and out of his dorm almost immediately. He needs to figure out just what happened, and what everyone else is up to.]

Ainosuke is struck by a morbid curiosity here - he's seen people in various state of injury, but he hasn't ever seen someone dead, let alone murdered. But if murder is what He sent them to do, he should familiarize himself with the reality, shouldn't he?

So - what are we looking at here? ]

[ Koyanskaya has meandered here from the Cafe Terrace not far below after the announcement; is there anything immediate she would have noticed coming in? Outside of the body, which Ainosuke's got covered it looks like.

Or is this just like, where the body gets put after. Was it Moved Here posthumously, rather than actually being the site of death. Does anything look particularly disturbed? ]

[ Well, since a lot of these people are probably unqualified for a proper post-mortem examination, Yugamu supposes it's just going to have to be another job. It's been a while since he's dealt with a dead body that wasn't an enemy, and it leaves his lips pursing tight.

Sorry to Lavi, since Yugamu is going to opt to carefully start to undress his top half. Some things must be done. Is there any bruises or other identifying marks obscured by the clothing? Any evidence of a non-bladed blow? ]
